“Behave like Mumbaikars”, taunted the activists of Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) led by chief Raj Thackeray, as they launched a crusade in Mumbai against migrant labourers from north India last week.
How does a ‘Mumbaikar’ behave? The way Raj and his party workers are behaving…?
Undoubtedly, by adopting infamous means for publicity MNS has managed to hit the national headlines. It would have been much praiseworthy if the party would have taken a different approach telling people to “Behave Like an Indian” !
Probably MNS wants to remain like a frog boggling in a well.
According to the 1991 census, the ethnic groups’ demographics in Mumbai are – Maharashtrians (42%), Gujaratis (18%), North Indians (21%), Tamil people (3%), Sindhis (3%), Kannadigas (5%) and others.
While the percentage of North Indians has gone up considerably between 1991 and 2007, but has it become that alarming which is making Raj and his party feel insecure ? and why ?
Political business need new moves…(north Indian issue) its an age old tactics applied by shiv – sena…its new avtaar MNS is no way behind
